Mid Week Already

Wow!  Mid week already. Another weekend closing in.

Moved furniture around on Monday so I'm reorganizing my workspace again.  I have a lot more storage though so my main floor classroom is better laid out. Or will be after I putter through the reorganization several times until I'm happy. Lol!  One big piece of furniture that came up to the living room is my Martha Stewart work bench.  Very big and very very heavy. We got it back up the stairs but JJ, who did the real heavy grunt work, said that it wasn't moving again except out the front door. Lol. He didn't mean it though. Or at least I'm not testing that idea.

If you read my newsletter I told you I would publish the wedding invitation I put together for Laryssa's wedding. Here are two photos.  The front.

6 pieces in total made with Stampin' Up!'s  Basic Gray, Blushing Bride and Vellum Card Stock.  The tree had the two heart shapes in it so I added the hearts with their names onto the heart outlines. The tree was cut by a cutting system. It's about 4" tall so the limbs were very delicate.

The inside now.

 (Details blurred for privacy)

Two cards in pocket with self addressed stamped envelope. One card to keep with details and the other to reply with.  Wording on the right printed on vellum with glimmer hearts in corners. Accents are all single pieces.

14 pieces including the actual card backing.  Half were made with Basic Gray as the base and half were made with Night of Navy as the base as Laryssa chose Basic Gray, Night of Navy and Blushing Bride for her wedding colours.

Now it's on to matching seating cards!!!

Short work week?

Well not for me. As I work Tuesday to Saturday then my holiday Monday is a regular day off even although I did still feel I had a long weekend.

I did manage to get out to a few holiday Monday garage sales though. A cool day for it but I got a few good deals for my efforts.

We had a chance to go downtown for a while in the afternoon.  We watched a fisherman land a big carp!  It fought a little harder than others as the fisherman had snagged his hook in the carp's tail!!

We did get all the wedding invitations done on Sunday so I was able to relax more on Monday.  I'll post a blog tomorrow with the cards but here is the final batch.

This week I get ready for my All Day Crop on Sunday which is also my Catalog Launch day.

Don't forget to reserve your copy or register and come out for the Crop. The catalogs are $3 each or free with crop registration or free with a $30 order, not including taxes or shipping.  The crops are always fun and this months theme is  .... New Catalogue!!!

Victoria Day

Here is a little history for you.

Well not quite. Lol.  Officially speaking "The holiday, which is only celebrated in Canada and Scotland, began as a celebration to honour Queen Victoria's birthday. The British queen was born on May 24, 1819. She is the longest reigning monarch (Queen) in England, remaining on her throne for 63 years, 216 days."

However, she is no longer the longest reigning.  "Queen Elizabeth II became the longest-reigning British monarch on 9 September 2015 when she surpassed the reign of her great-great-grandmother Victoria.  On 6 February 2017 she became the first British monarch to celebrate a sapphire jubilee, commemorating 65 years on the throne."

I wonder if we will have an "Elizabeth Day" holiday??  Irv suggests the Friday of the Victoria weekend and that would be a royal four day weekend. I'll vote for that!

Sunday is a Big Day

I think today we will finish all of Laryssa's wedding invitations. Each invitation is comprised of 20 pieces including decorative cut outs, accents, stamps, pockets, return envelopes, vellum, information cards and a nice handmade envelope to hold it all. Whew!!

It has taken a considerable amount of time as there are 150 sets to create. But as of tonight they should all be done!  Laryssa and Devin are coming over to help so we can also get some visiting time in. LOL!

One of the cut outs is a 4" ornate tree that take 7 minutes each to cut on a Silhouette cutting system and if any of the delicate limbs get ripped then it's a throw away. Then another 3 to 4 minutes to peel it from the cutting mat and that's delicate work too. That's 6 per hour which means 150 was 25 hours just to cut out the tree.

I'll let you know Monday if we are done.

Friday nights team meeting brought out the team's talents again. Here are the cards.

Top Left to right is Sue Mustard, Denise Donald. Bottom Left to right are Karen Rutledge, Irma and Andre Radzick, Marlene DeBoer.

Beautiful cards as always ladies!!

What Are You Doing Today?

So how are you spending your long weekend?  At home catching up on that to do list?  With friends? With family?  Cottage? Trailer?  How ever you are spending your weekend I hope your having a great time!!

I'm physically willing my shoulders to relax. I occasionally close my eyes (while sitting down). I'm taking deep relaxing breathes.

Then I wake up and realize I have to work today. Lol!!  Just until 3pm then I can head home to do those relaxing things.

Last night was team meeting. As usual we had loads of fun and laughter. We learned a few things too. Here is the swap card I made for the team swap.

The creative side of me works in mysterious ways. Sometimes the ideas flow fast ... and sometimes a little slow. But no matter what, you can tell I was in creative mode by the area I spread out in. Lol. I think it takes as long to put everything back in place as it does to make the card.
The wood grain background is a new paper product from the new catalogue. Another great reason to get your new catalogue reserved for the end of the month.

Have a good weekend everybody!  Hope you're doing what you want to do!!

Friday Again!

The start of summer is here!!!  Yah!  Where did I put the sun tan lotion?  The sunglasses?  The summer wear?  LOL. Mentally I'm ready though!

We hope to have a bit of time this weekend to enjoy the beach. Monday is the most likely.  17 degrees and partly cloudy.  No fireworks in Port Dover this weekend unfortunately. The Lions Club does their big fireworks display on Canada Day.  The town was very busy yesterday even though it was really windy.

I had my creative hat on again. Here is a quick and easy card that I made by playing with the new pattern paper, Delightful Daisies. The centre piece shape is cut out from that paper. The yellow background is a stamp set called Watercolour Wash which is a current stamp set.

Monthly Team meeting tonight. My team meets once a month and we either have it here at my house in Port Dover or at one of the other team members homes. We also use an online tool called Zoom which lets others connect in from their homes. We put up a projector and camera so we can all see and hear one another.  We talk about our business and try to help each other with ideas and also do a card swap.  Here are the cards for last months swap.

Really creative work by the team. Our swaps generally have a theme or challenge to keep everyone on their toes. Lol!

Paper and Bow sharing

I'm looking forward to the long weekend. Around Port Dover we have lots of activities. Cottage Life magazine listed the top 8 busiest beaches in Ontario  and Port Dover made the list!  The weather this weekend is supposed to be nice. Warm enough in mid teens with one thunderstorm on Sunday night. But it's the official start of summer, so as long as it's not snowing then the festivities will go on!

I'm going to start offering Shares made up of new Stampin' Up! Product.  Instead of buying ten yards of one ribbon, being part of a share allows you to get two yards of five different ribbons. Same idea with paper.  Watch here or in my newsletter for more on this. Here's a photo example of bows and ribbon sharing packs. The price for all three of these packs is $20 including tax.  You can reserve by contacting me. This is only available in Canada and only through me as an Independent Stampin' Up demonstrator.  Leave a comment with your thoughts on this please. Thanks.

This months Paper Pumpkin Kit

Beautiful day ahead of us according to the weather forecast. Warm breezes and clear skies. Nice.

Irv and I belong to a Facebook group called "Currently in Port Dover". People use it to talk about things happening in and around Port Dover like a chat room. One of the main topics lately is the sighting in town and during the day of coyotes. Not just outside of town but walking around in the subdivisions.  Lots of people seeing them and, thankfully no incidents with them either. Photos are posted so we see these. We haven't seen any ourselves but are always watching.  Here is a photo from that FB group.

Wow!  My Paper Pumpkin for May just arrived!  What a great kit and just in time for Fathers Day next month.

I'm always excited to receive my kit because it's always a surprise.  Stampin' Up! never tell us what's coming each month although this month they gave us some clues to tease us.  Something round that you would enjoy most mornings. I guessed donuts or golf!  My donuts guess was right!!  You get enough supplies to make 9 cards. Yes. 9. Not a dozen. We think that's because of the US exchange rate. LOL!

Below is a photo of the kit. You get almost everything you need, even dimensionals and glue dots. The only thing you need to have handy is an acrylic block for the stamps and a snail or multi purpose adhesive.    That's what I love about these kits. They are complete standalone card sets.

Their envelopes are just like the bags that donuts come in!  How neat is that!  Oh, and there are ZERO calories.

Tuesday is Stampin' Up! Day

Here we are with just a few days to go before the Victoria Day weekend!  Long weekends mean fun!  An extra day of card making, designing and relaxing. But wait...!!  Laryssa's wedding is June 17!!!  Where did that time go!!  So this weekend will be busy working on that wedding stuff. At least it's a labour of love.  This photo is Irv, Laryssa and me at her shower. She really is all grown up!!

Every Tuesday morning, bright and early, Stampin' Up! puts new announcements for the week up on their website for demonstrators. That's why my newsletters go out on Tuesday afternoons.

I get a little time to review the announcements and what they mean for my customers. Sometimes I'm pretty excited and sometimes I scratch my head.  Like when a product goes on back order that's not even released yet because it's in the new catalogue. Lol!  We had that last week when demonstrators were allowed to preorder a select few new items so we could prepare samples and have some product on hand for our new catalogue launch. Stampin' Up! ran out of three items but will have them back in stock pretty quick.

My Mothers Day Card

I hope your Mothers Day was fun and you had time to spend with your family.

I had the chance to have lunch with Mom and brother Paul before playing cards for a good bit of the afternoon.  Then I enjoyed having dinner with Irv, David and JJ at an Italian restaurant in Simcoe. The Barrel was busy but the food was excellent.

I normally have Monday off but today I'm filling in for another employee so it's another busy day for me.

Yesterday I gave my mom a card I created with vellum. Here it is.

I'm going to create a tutorial on this one sometime this week and post it here and in the newsletter. I love the colour combinations here.

Ahh! Mother's Day

That one day a year when mothers are shown a little more love and respect for everything they do all year long!!

I made a card for my mother for Mothers Day. But she sees this blog so I will show it tomorrow. Lol!  I'm spending the afternoon with Mom today. My brother Paul, mom and I are going out for lunch in Woodstock.  JJ and Irv are working, Laryssa is flying home from a bachelorette party and David is dog sitting Laryssa's pugs so our family time will be at dinner tonight.  Everyone has busy lives and schedules.

I reflect every year on how it seems like just a few years ago my kids were just babies.

This photo is from 1999.

We had just finished dinner at Pizza Hut.  18 years ago.

Here is another from two years ago.

We had just picked our Christmas tree.

All I can say is "Wow. Where did the time go?"  I'm feeling a little teary eyed. Sniff' 😪

I had the chance a couple of weeks ago to create a new birthday card design. Here it is.

It's a stand up card using a little glimmer paper from the previous sale a bration catalogue.  My hostess Monica and friends got to make this card at Monica's home workshop this month.  I'm going to trying to do a few tutorials for you in future. Both PDF and Video and post the links here.

But not today as it's time to relax a bit. I hope you all have a very happy Mothers Day and can enjoy quality time with family!

A Card Comparison

Irv had a challenge for me. A work associate was looking for a Mother's Day card and liked a purple card with a butterfly. It had a cost of $10 and was out of this associates budget. She really wanted the card for her mother but just couldn't justify the price.  Irv told her about my passion for card making and asked for a day to see what he (I) could do.

So I accepted the challenge!!

The card on the left is from a major card manufacturer for $10. The card on the right is my creation. I would sell this for $3.

I did this on Friday morning so when Irv gave it to her in the afternoon she was, first, surprised he remembered and, secondly, astonished it was handmade.  She was very grateful and was thrilled to be able to give this to her mother for Mother's Day.

There are elements of new product in this card. In fact I used the new In Colour Fresh Fig ink and the new colour theory designer paper stack.  These new colours are great to work with.  I will have a selection of a few of the new products available on May 28 at the All Day Crop for you to view. It will include the 5 new gorgeous In Colours. Make sure you get to the Crop location that day to see them!

TGIF.  What a great way of saying "Holy Cow! What a week that was!"  LOL. Right now though I just switch hats to focus on Stampin' Up! For two days.  I actually work Saturdays at my regular job so I guess I should be saying TGIS tomorrow. I get Sunday and Monday off and use it for the SU side of my life.

We do take breaks here and there and one of our favourite breaks is to go down to the pier at night. Grab a Timmy's right there beside the pier. And watch the sunset. Love being beside the water.

Here is a photo of the new pier.

The pier is only this quiet a few times a year!  LOL

I got my shipment of the new Annual Stampin' Up! Catalogues today!  Be sure to reserve yours today!  I can't release them until the official launch date so please be patient!!  $3 each or free with $30 order not including shipping and taxes. Or free to anyone who registers and attends my All Day Crop on Sunday, May 28. Call me or come to the All Day Crop to pick one up.

Blogging Daily

Well I'm going to try doing daily blogs again. I have spent the last four months getting a weekly newsletter out to my customers and another for my demonstrator team. Pretty much every Tuesday but sometimes a little later due to time pressures. Lol!

So now it's time to go back to my daily blogging. So far this is three days in a row. I'm going to try doing a bit of personal  blog news and a bit of Stampin' Up! And Craft D blog news.

I'll try to keep it from getting too long everyday so it can be a quick read for you. I hope you keep me on track!!

You can sign up for my newsletter right here on the left hand side of this page if you want my weekly news.

Now I'm going to hunker down and get through the next month as we approach Laryssa's big wedding day!! June 17. More to come on that!

If you have a topic or comment then please select the "Comment" button below and leave me a comment. I love to hear from you.

Summer Road Construction

Is it just me or is summer construction getting worse!  Travelling between Barrie, Caledon, Milton, Woodstock and construction is everywhere.  The funny thing is that there are huge sections of road that really need repair. Not just new bridges and ramps. Even Port Dover's Main Street is under construction again. Just in time for the summer traffic. Lol!

Announcing the date for the May 2017 All Day Crop.  It's Sunday May 28.

Here are the details but reserve now for yourself and your friends. Space is going fast!!

Remember that everyone who registers for the full day, and attends, will receive the new annual 2017 - 2018 Stampin' Up! Catalogue free!!
