Georges Restaurant

Many many years ago, Irv found a restaurant in Cambridge by the name of Georges.  It was a Chinese food restaurant located in the downtown core of what was then known as "Galt" now Cambridge. Over the many years of enjoying the food,  George's added an addition to the restaurant.  Irv and his brother Steve, felt that they must've added the addition all by themselves based on the amount of food they were buying.

The favourite take-out order was known as an 18 for one which was basically Soo Guy Almond, Sweet-and-Sour chicken, chicken fried rice and egg roll.  Back then the order was a whole $4.50.  I found out yesterday that the new price is now $17.50 that's a big jump over the years.

After many years, the original owner, George, passed away and the new owners stayed with the old tried-and-true recipes to keep Georges as unique.

Irv has been going to Georges for the last 48 years. Not every week or every month and not as often over the years.  Since our move to Port Dover we have unfortunately discovered it's too far a trip to Cambridge just for George's.

This photo was taken on JJ's birthday and that you can see we went to George's.  I'm pleased to say that Laryssa and , and extent, David are continuing the tradition.  Laryssa lives closest to George's in the southwest area of Kitchener and manages to get to George's once every week or two weeks so the old tradition has been passed on to Laryssa.  It's been a while since I have been to George's with Irv so it was great food and a great fun night out.
Irv introduced me to George's many years ago when we first met and we both liked it.

I know a number of people who have been going to George's like me and Irv over the years and it's nice to see that a family run restaurant that is so unique with great food.

Keep going George's! Can you keep it going another 48 years for another Donald generation to enjoy!

JJ's Birthday! The big 21

Yesterday was JJ's 21st birthday.  21 years since was born and entered this somewhat crazy world of ours.  It's also Australia Day. A much warmer climate. Lol.
Officially he uses John or John James on occasion but he's still my baby.  We had a family birthday dinner and went to movie last night.

Here's a photo at his second birthday. He has always loved chocolate cakes.

His taste has varied over the years but chocolate cake has always still the favourite.

Today is a warm day celebrate on as these freezing colds are making life miserable.

This week we got a new start in Stampin Up! Newsletters and notices. You'll see more of us now that Irv is stable.
A few people have asked if Paper Pumpkin kits qualify for Sale-A-Bration rewards. They sure do! 3, 6, and 12 month subscriptions do.  That's a great way to reward yourself. Ask me about Paper Pumpkin. You'll be happy you did!

Still More Boxes

Eighteen months ago we moved to Port Dover.  Glad we did. It's a beautiful town with nice people. When we moved to the smaller house we discovered we had an unusual number of boxes of stuff still to unpack.  It's a chore that seem endless.

Here is a sample of the boxes that got packed in the last few days.

It's getting hard to find places store what was in the boxes. We have given a away a few tables and chairs but the remaining boxes are lots of smaller items. More personal with some, others are practical, and a few we give away.

It's interesting to see what each box contains as we sort through the flotsam on life.  LOL

Knick knacks, souvenirs, and the like. I find I also have a "few" boxes of craft items. Those items go back into the expanding craft room. Floor to ceiling is the best way to describe my craft room(s).

Lots more boxes to go through as it's a winter chore. Eventually I'll get there.  It may our second year here. LOL!

Time to update! LOL

Well it's about time. We haven't updated the blog since about the end of November. Irv has been dealing with complications during December and January. It has taken me a while to get back to the routine and my Stampin' Up! business but finally we are starting again with our newsletter and the blog.

We have Sale-A-Bration underway and the Occasions catalogue which provides us with a great new set of products and opportunities to earn FREE product for every $60 spent within the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. The time is right to make that special purchase and get the extra products free.

Irv and I have been spending more time this week to catch up on our website and blog to stay in touch with you, our customers, and will be spending more time over the next few weeks getting back into our routine.

A couple of days ago we issued a newsletter that includes new classes through February and we will be updating our newsletter once a month rather than several times a month.  This way we will give you more information just once a month and give you reminders throughout the month about our classes and sharing of information from Stampin' Up!

Irv is still at home as his disabilities don't allow him to get out of the house much because of his balance and because he finally lost his drivers license. After five hearts and one stroke, they finally decided to take Irv's license.  He hasn't driven since July already anyway. So  no big deal for us as I wouldn't let him drive anyway.

Well that's enough for now I will get back to talking to you tomorrow.
